A week in my life

I'm in love with this features editor from an upscale men's fashion-lifestyle magazine.
he has a really weird name, is probably 35 years old or more, has lived in Japan, is interested to talk about an internship that might not come true at all, quirky sense of style for his age and is really hairy/bushy.

of course, being tall is a pre-requisite.

also infatuated with BOSSNI's new spring collection's male model.
yes, BOSSINI. i wonder if they have the same model in singapore.
i stare at him all the time, even when im in the MTR station, cos they have BOSSINI ads there...awww, eye-candy haven.

life is a nutshell:

wished i could pimp off some looks from SoHo-Londoners, but i aint taht daring haha!.

i finally can understand what the europeans (mostly) mean by 'thrifted'.
i felt it. Lately, i've pretty much been doing the 'thrifted' thang.
Hairbands at 3 for 12 HKD, is pretty much affordable i'll say.
My best buy is probably the almost nude-pink front bow chiffon top i bought.
i dont think anyone can guess the price right at first try.

Love the details, hate the colour, but i guess it ended up ok.
wished i could find more of these.

i used to envy like mad when i read blogs of those people who went to flea markets got got really good stuffs, or went thrift shopping.
no flea markets here, not any that i remember, but many many places to do thrift shopping (markets included, malls excluded.)
i mean, how do you explain my trip to the market to get bananas, and ended up with 3 beautifully '70s hairband.
Oh, one of the headbands, its in the pic where i have the flowery print dress!

H&M's basics are getting a tad too small for me lately, they're missing out on size 40! i assume Hongkongers are not that slim maybe.haha! i wish. The biggest problem with me is that i cant wear very tailor-fit pencil skirts and stuffs due to my love and longing for food.dang!

Random dinner/shoe-shopping in HK ended up with me buying the flowery dress pictured.
The shop keeper was nice enough to let me try (no fitting room, just LUP!) so i almost could not, NOT, buy it.
i figured taht someday back in spore i could wear it to somewhere fancy, but i ended up wearing that printed dress on an absolutely gloomy and book-wormish monday. (everyone was dressed down, and we went to a book shop after lunch, see what i mean?)

also bought a skirt which my auntie totally laughed at me for.(this sentence sounds grammatically wrong.)
well, the skirt sucks so i turned it into a dress and it looked really good, sans the bulging tummy!

got ZARA flats, absolutely comfy. could not say no to them.(was telling libing how i even dreamt of it!!!)
with the right shoes and accessories, something cheap can always not look cheap (Margarette and i's theory.)
Margarette is a friend from work who is abit of a shopoholic, a total Marc Jacobs fanatic. (wallet, shoes, bag...)

Colleague at work, this middle age women, actually went to get the exact same pair.
is she trying to be my twin or what?!
so many pairs of shoes in HK, WHY MUST SHE BUY THE SAME.
deserve to die.

and also,

PLEASE DONT GET BD BLUSH.
i bought a BODYSHOP blush just before i headed for HK, it was a mistake.
the best blush so far is really dior, so natural-looking.
hopefully NARS give give that 'subtle glow' effect.
The BODYSHOP blusher is really sick. so artificial, the reddness.
somemore the colour i got was a subtle brownish-pink one. totally gross.
i have to blend it with foundation to make it look wearable.
and since i dont have the heart to waste money, i've decided to bear with it for while.
ANGRY.till nars.

haven been doing much for BT, but have been exploring alot and moving from place to place.

Interior of an old building in Sheng Wan.

Exterior...and the tram!

My Fave Tram design of the month! dream shoes too...
will never be able to get them..maybe till i turn 21..haha.

My room at auntie diana's house, much cleaner, better air and of course, clean toilet.

i make people around me do stupid things with me, i just cant help it.HEE.

more non-stop good life:

Lookin stupid while KTV-ing with cynthia mama.

i just cant stop fooling around huh..

AGNES B CAKES! truly a surprise, truly a delight.
just looking at it makes me full. (i heard the old kenneth yap loveessss agnes B, too bad he's not here...)

The most delicious piece, the fresh cream tasted heavenly..
thou not as heavenly as the honey comb cake i had at the place i did my food review.(BUT STILL VERY VERY GOOD)

Oh yes...i spotted this at a mall near my house.
what a pleasant surprise!

ok byebye folks!

ok, i really need to start becoming more intellectual.

more than you can say.

i was attacked by a bolt of loneliness, severe loneliness a few nights back. Now i truly believe and tasted real loneliness. Im just really lucky that i have a wacky mum who has so many funny ideas up her sleeve and always ready to give me a suggestion or two about sucky life. To her, nothing beats having dirty water that is wayyy too polluted to be used for washing your face – thats my mum. loneliness is nothing, there is a solution to everything.

As she reports to me about the 'emergency' in spore, NO RICE MIND YOU, she sounded just like someone from the radio station. And then she filled me in on what our singapore gov did for the people, assuring them that we have rice hidden away so NO WORRIES. blah blah blah, nothing is too boring or sucky for mum. She just has her stubborn ways to deal with things.

oh, did i mention i am officially living alone?

Its the same shabby house with a toilet not only is-too-tiny, but also shared by a huge-ass-bothersome lizard. So no, living conditions are not better.

I have conversations with myself (intra communication) since even back then when i had a flatmate it was also like speaking to a wall, not much of a difference there i reckon.

im now back to square one whereby i can imagine im the only one here in HK, the only one that was chosen, the only one trying to work in somewhere different. Since our lives has taken such a unique twist, well, i guess its only right that i say this.

physical state aside, i need to talk about communication.

No matter what you study, be it engineering or masscomm or even anime drawing, communication is important.

In the case whereby someone talks to you, it is just polite to answer. AND WITH A PROPER WORD, not a sound or a grunt.
because firstly, im sure the person who is talking to you is not an animal and secondly, neither are you an animal. If you choose to continue to communicate with me using grunts and noises, i shall officially label you as an animal of my choice. In which i have already decided.

I would urge you to speak up if you have any issues.

These days on the streets, i keep seeing people whom im related to in spore. their Hongkong clones. Just now i saw a Hk version of my fsv cousin benedict, and dion(weirdly), few days back it was pris (from sec sch) and a couple more that i forgot.

Life is pretty unpredictable and 'invisible flatmate' aside, my body has been up to no good.

back in those day where i was abit more reckless in terms of diet and lifestyle, i took gastric pills on an average of once per month. Now, just one and half month into HK, i'm on two already. Maybe i over-eat, maybe my digestive system is just screwed but either ways, im not in good shape both inside and out.

I took panadol once in the office because i could no longer take it. The headache was killing me and i had just one more page to write.

My body seems to be weakening under conditions i have not yet determine.

i wonder if blogging about happy things will help me deal with shithole-situation.

the best thing that is gonna happen to me is that i'll prob be reviewing an open-top penthouse restaurant called SEVVA (pronounced 'savour') and each dish is apprx HKD200. ouch!

I've signed up for NARS beauty workshop, some makeover thing that cost me HKD300 and i hopefully pray its worth it! I dont wanna let some so-called make-up artist ruin my face now that the canvas is larger (ya my face grew in size too) and my pimples are not exactly disappearing.

I finished a book review on 'eat pray love' and i've read it like 10 times. But it still feels weird so i dont know how to go about correcting it, still trying. just imagine, 'What would a discerning male reader say about it?'

and to a certain person i would call soulmate, why did you log up your blog?

ylper

stop being so sensitive.

safe the bullshit.

read some self-help.

for x, x and x respectively.

STOP SHOPPING

I decided that i needed someone to stop me.(not kenneth of course.)
I gave the green light to auntie diana.
if i were to buy anymore things, scold me.
If i were to contemplate about whether or not to buy something, the answer would always be 'no'.
far too much , well, would i call destruction, has been done.

i dont even dare to put the image of mum or dad in my mind now. (sorry dad, i know its all your money im spending.)

It all started with a seemingly harmless trip to ZARA at IFC(Central).
heard my colleague mentioning the other day that it is different from other ZARAs around town.
I checked myself to the TRF section as usual, and the next thing i knew, i shipped myself to the fitting room.
as if it was all a natural process, i was at the cashier paying up.

Before i left, spotted a size 41 neon-green tipped pumps.
WOW i thought, ZARA PUMPS AT HK$159? HMM.
i slipped my feet into it, but decided against buying it.
The same day when i was taking a nap, i dreamt of the shoes.

Thus today i made another trip down to ZARA.
now the shoes are sitting at the feet of my bed.

well, i did not even dare to enter MANGO afterwards.
The thing is, i have been consistently shopping as if it was a pill to be taken everyday.
i buy any and every thing, almost.

im standing at:

5 new dresses.
2 skirts
2 pair of shoes (with much/great abstinence)
4 hairbands
3 other-than-black-colour stockings
7 tops
1 scarf
1 new eye-liner
1 eyeshawdow
2 vests
2 plastic frames
more than 5 pairs of earrings (lost count)
2 bangles
1 bag (lately i've lost interest in bags cos i've got a few that cater to all my needs.)

no, not everything is thrifted so i am feeling very broke now.
i have yet to total the damages.(excluding the amount of weight i've gain hahahahah)
oh ya! NINE WEST IS CHEAP HERE!!!!!

i guess my NARS blusher will have to wait, so does the Majorica Mascara and the Kate white eyeliner.

STOP SHOPPING!
im gonna head for the library next week, i swear.
step the afternoon reading vogue and anything Haruki Murakami.

...

im very broke cos im now spending 2 times the amount of money doing laundry as compared to the first 2 weeks.

Oh that lazy and rainy saturday i went to ZARA, i almost managed to finish reading eat, pray ,love by Liz Gilbert.
i dont thing i can ever lend that book out to anyone, cos its heavily loaded with my messy handwriting.
it is hardly a 'travel narrative', it seem pretty much like a self-help book.
a very well written self-help book, very interesting, not just saying the DUH stuffs.
but its definitely not for impatient or un-adventurous people.
started on a new book, Princess Masako, story of Japan's crown princess.
its awfully enriching in the sense that its filled (to the brim mind you!) with japanese culture thou its writer is australian.

discovered another new place in HK today!, found another vintage shop
this time, its hardcore all vintage accessories, in big big dirty plastic bags whereby you have to fish out the gems yourself.
taken care by an old lady who i managed to strike a deal with, in cantonese.AMAZING!

ohmy, enough talk!

will post pics soon! keep a look out!

some pics i posted the other day, believe libing has seen it.

home away from home

Life will never be the same again, ever.
Been in HK for 5/6 weeks now, life is now consistently paced.

I dine at my distant auntie's house almost every other day. She cooks the meanest soups, veggies and chicken cutlets. I dont have a choice but to take about 2 bowls of rice in each seating. Its a home away from home, somewhere i can hear people speak proper un-accented english. Not to mention, their home is like a villa compared to mine and most importantly, their toilet is BIG, and clean. someday i must seize the chance to try bathing there.

Their company is lovely, two (almost) old folks without children and a nice house. Since Auntie Diana, as i call her, has a jewellry shop in Central, i mostly hang around in the area, thrift shopping/H&M/SoHo, even went the market with her once. Life is so ordinary, not that anything is wrong, but almost country-like.

Now and then i drink abit, of cocktails yes and beer (still think its unbearable). But normally i end up with orange juice or milk.
Not Clubbing = No Point get high/drunk = No Drinks.
During events, the only thing i look forward is canapes, they look good and also fill up my stomach. Colleagues have pointed out that i my face is rounder now, not that im very bothered YET, since we are still in the early stages of summer. I sincerely wish summer did not have to come, even though i do hate bathing with my legs shivering. My face being rounder does show alot, mainly the fact that i am enjoying it here, well at least my stomach is. FAT=Happy eating.

I can no longer fit into some of the clothes i've bought here already hahaha, so i think you get the point. its kinda a cross between happy and sad. (since im not even slim to begin with! ARGH.)

After one month i have been trained to stick to CLEAN food, the rule is: Can be expensive, cannot be dirty (location included). Great places to eat are 'Dai Ga Lok' (Chain of food stores ) a couple of 'Cha Chan Tings' (tea house) and SPICY NOODLES. The shanghai food here is really thumbs up too. To say that my stomach is contented is simply, simply simply, an understatement. Oh ya, the PO LO BAO with a slice of cold butter. WOOTS.

Desserts are even better. Double Boiled milk pudding, steamed egg custard, Mango sago, papaya smoothie, almond paste, Dumplings (sandy wish you were here) among others. Seriously, i could choose to starve or just enjoy without a care. its just impossible to describe in words, im just anticipating my next trip to HK with my friends.

I tried lottery, but unfortunately, did not strike even a single digit (out of the 12 digits i bought.) So no hope to sponsor anyone over to eat, shop and play with me for now.

Dressing up (sounds DUH i know) will never be the same again. It feels good to finally wear something more than 2 layers just to look good. Stockings are daily essentials, haven bear my legs for zillions of years. Scarves and bling bling and more hairbands, everyday is a dress-up day. Dont have to care what people say (ya they normally WILL SAY SOMETHING) but.....

My only exercise is (still) shopping, I shop alot more now but spend a lesser amount to what i did in singapore. life never be the same cause i can bet you a 100 bucks (SG dollars) that no shop sell blouses at S$2 each or vests at S$6 each. Nowhere in singapore will you find me trying to haggle with a storekeeper that practically swears with every dollar you bring down, but it doesnt matter, only god knows what they're swearing anyway.

No streets have more Philippinas (female philippines people) then HK. They laze on the streets, shop, talk walk play majong etc. But well they are happy people.

Kenneth Cheong lost my camera case and bought a...can-never-be-called-equivalent casing for me. SIGHS, LIFE SUCKS SINCE MY CAMERA IS MY BABY. He hasnt said sorry, not that i remember, and i think he needs to buck up on being a person. but whatever the case, we are sitting far away from each other in the office (he is in the editorial room while im not), we speak less than 10 sentences to each other each day and i normally dine alone/with my auntie. Not complaining, since i am managing my life OK. Not perfect, but ok. I've lined up stuffs to do everyday, so its pretty much fulfilling.

work-wise, i've been called in by the editor (margie) a couple of times due to shabby work. been slammed about my grammar (sadly, haha.). But i still managed to write one 'feature section' and many bulletin sections. Feature section is along the lines of ' Where to get vintage goods in HK'. So i visited a vintage records store, vintage camera store, wine store, clothes (obviously), vintage furniture and vintage poster. Its the most amazing few days i have ever had. The line between fun and work is almost completely blurred. It wasnt exactly a breeze venturing on my own but POLICEMEN ARE DAMN HELPFUL IN HK (so anw, is mas selamet caught yet!!!). I got around lah, HK is somewhere anyone can live in, anyone.

Never took so many pictures at one go before, and even had my photos complemented. I could die of joy really! (cant believe someone added indirectly that the photos were bad.BITCH) It proves that im not that handicapped after all lah.

aside from shabby house (cant change anything about it) and vanishing flat mate (no objections here), life is still pretty much very fun. there are new things to see almost everywhere. New food too try, new places to shop, and new people to meet.

Now i truly understand how and why HK (tourism board) constantly sells themselves for 'eat and shop'.

friends, i still miss u guys like crazy. so if you have spare cash, just fly over!

cheers to the day.

i never thought i would ever blog like 3 times per night , nor say what i am about to say, but here it is:

this is a challenge from God, i will accept it and overcome it.

....

last week and the week before was calmly beautiful.
Kenneth and I spent it apart meeting only for dinners.

I kinda dragged him to the HK film festival, we caught something hilarious, grossly hilarious.
called 'Teeth' i had to admit it was one of the most gory stuff i;ve caught to date.
I enjoyed it but he was at the verge of a nervous break-down.poor kid.

Other than the film festival, i bought another vintage top and i took more photos.
basically the camera is my life and my life revolves ard the camera.

One of the photos i took for my article!
Classic breakfast at tiffiny's

The HK version of IS, pretty cool.

Comme des Garcons

i just realised...

Comme des Garcons for H&M!!!!! WTH!
WHY AM I NOT PAID US$3,000!!!!!!

epitome of a perfect worker, or so you think.

I know i haven blogged in awhile, i simply apologise, since this going to be heavy stuff. Its gonna end up being a whiny, rant-y and obviously sarcastic post.

I guess there are people in the world who queue up to get fucked in the face, i dont literally mean fuck like sex, but fuck like 'hey-i-am-going-to-say/do-something-stupid-today -because-i-feel-like-it-and-i-think-i-am-obviously-right-about-the-stupid-thing-that-i-am-about-to-stupidly-say" kinda fuck, if you get what i mean.

get a grip of yourself man, and stop acting like a _______________.

obviously i've got brains big enough to keep me alive.

And as much as i tried not to use 'fuck', well, some things in life are just like a straight line, you cant help it that it is straight. so, i cant help it that some people are just, well, they simply need to be saved.

people people, dont assume dont assume.
it might not,it might be directed at something. But im gonna leave it ambiguously undefined.

going off to write my ...would i call it a travel log?

at this point of time, i believe i need a GIRLFRIEND more than a boyfriend.
