A week in my life

I'm in love with this features editor from an upscale men's fashion-lifestyle magazine.
he has a really weird name, is probably 35 years old or more, has lived in Japan, is interested to talk about an internship that might not come true at all, quirky sense of style for his age and is really hairy/bushy.

of course, being tall is a pre-requisite.

also infatuated with BOSSNI's new spring collection's male model.
yes, BOSSINI. i wonder if they have the same model in singapore.
i stare at him all the time, even when im in the MTR station, cos they have BOSSINI ads there...awww, eye-candy haven.

life is a nutshell:

wished i could pimp off some looks from SoHo-Londoners, but i aint taht daring haha!.

i finally can understand what the europeans (mostly) mean by 'thrifted'.
i felt it. Lately, i've pretty much been doing the 'thrifted' thang.
Hairbands at 3 for 12 HKD, is pretty much affordable i'll say.
My best buy is probably the almost nude-pink front bow chiffon top i bought.
i dont think anyone can guess the price right at first try.

Love the details, hate the colour, but i guess it ended up ok.
wished i could find more of these.

i used to envy like mad when i read blogs of those people who went to flea markets got got really good stuffs, or went thrift shopping.
no flea markets here, not any that i remember, but many many places to do thrift shopping (markets included, malls excluded.)
i mean, how do you explain my trip to the market to get bananas, and ended up with 3 beautifully '70s hairband.
Oh, one of the headbands, its in the pic where i have the flowery print dress!

H&M's basics are getting a tad too small for me lately, they're missing out on size 40! i assume Hongkongers are not that slim maybe.haha! i wish. The biggest problem with me is that i cant wear very tailor-fit pencil skirts and stuffs due to my love and longing for food.dang!

Random dinner/shoe-shopping in HK ended up with me buying the flowery dress pictured.
The shop keeper was nice enough to let me try (no fitting room, just LUP!) so i almost could not, NOT, buy it.
i figured taht someday back in spore i could wear it to somewhere fancy, but i ended up wearing that printed dress on an absolutely gloomy and book-wormish monday. (everyone was dressed down, and we went to a book shop after lunch, see what i mean?)

also bought a skirt which my auntie totally laughed at me for.(this sentence sounds grammatically wrong.)
well, the skirt sucks so i turned it into a dress and it looked really good, sans the bulging tummy!

got ZARA flats, absolutely comfy. could not say no to them.(was telling libing how i even dreamt of it!!!)
with the right shoes and accessories, something cheap can always not look cheap (Margarette and i's theory.)
Margarette is a friend from work who is abit of a shopoholic, a total Marc Jacobs fanatic. (wallet, shoes, bag...)

Colleague at work, this middle age women, actually went to get the exact same pair.
is she trying to be my twin or what?!
so many pairs of shoes in HK, WHY MUST SHE BUY THE SAME.
deserve to die.

and also,

PLEASE DONT GET BD BLUSH.
i bought a BODYSHOP blush just before i headed for HK, it was a mistake.
the best blush so far is really dior, so natural-looking.
hopefully NARS give give that 'subtle glow' effect.
The BODYSHOP blusher is really sick. so artificial, the reddness.
somemore the colour i got was a subtle brownish-pink one. totally gross.
i have to blend it with foundation to make it look wearable.
and since i dont have the heart to waste money, i've decided to bear with it for while.
ANGRY.till nars.

haven been doing much for BT, but have been exploring alot and moving from place to place.

Interior of an old building in Sheng Wan.

Exterior...and the tram!

My Fave Tram design of the month! dream shoes too...
will never be able to get them..maybe till i turn 21..haha.

My room at auntie diana's house, much cleaner, better air and of course, clean toilet.

i make people around me do stupid things with me, i just cant help it.HEE.

more non-stop good life:

Lookin stupid while KTV-ing with cynthia mama.

i just cant stop fooling around huh..

AGNES B CAKES! truly a surprise, truly a delight.
just looking at it makes me full. (i heard the old kenneth yap loveessss agnes B, too bad he's not here...)

The most delicious piece, the fresh cream tasted heavenly..
thou not as heavenly as the honey comb cake i had at the place i did my food review.(BUT STILL VERY VERY GOOD)

Oh yes...i spotted this at a mall near my house.
what a pleasant surprise!

ok byebye folks!

ok, i really need to start becoming more intellectual.

more than you can say.

i was attacked by a bolt of loneliness, severe loneliness a few nights back. Now i truly believe and tasted real loneliness. Im just really lucky that i have a wacky mum who has so many funny ideas up her sleeve and always ready to give me a suggestion or two about sucky life. To her, nothing beats having dirty water that is wayyy too polluted to be used for washing your face – thats my mum. loneliness is nothing, there is a solution to everything.

As she reports to me about the 'emergency' in spore, NO RICE MIND YOU, she sounded just like someone from the radio station. And then she filled me in on what our singapore gov did for the people, assuring them that we have rice hidden away so NO WORRIES. blah blah blah, nothing is too boring or sucky for mum. She just has her stubborn ways to deal with things.

oh, did i mention i am officially living alone?

Its the same shabby house with a toilet not only is-too-tiny, but also shared by a huge-ass-bothersome lizard. So no, living conditions are not better.

I have conversations with myself (intra communication) since even back then when i had a flatmate it was also like speaking to a wall, not much of a difference there i reckon.

im now back to square one whereby i can imagine im the only one here in HK, the only one that was chosen, the only one trying to work in somewhere different. Since our lives has taken such a unique twist, well, i guess its only right that i say this.

physical state aside, i need to talk about communication.

No matter what you study, be it engineering or masscomm or even anime drawing, communication is important.

In the case whereby someone talks to you, it is just polite to answer. AND WITH A PROPER WORD, not a sound or a grunt.
because firstly, im sure the person who is talking to you is not an animal and secondly, neither are you an animal. If you choose to continue to communicate with me using grunts and noises, i shall officially label you as an animal of my choice. In which i have already decided.

I would urge you to speak up if you have any issues.

These days on the streets, i keep seeing people whom im related to in spore. their Hongkong clones. Just now i saw a Hk version of my fsv cousin benedict, and dion(weirdly), few days back it was pris (from sec sch) and a couple more that i forgot.

Life is pretty unpredictable and 'invisible flatmate' aside, my body has been up to no good.

back in those day where i was abit more reckless in terms of diet and lifestyle, i took gastric pills on an average of once per month. Now, just one and half month into HK, i'm on two already. Maybe i over-eat, maybe my digestive system is just screwed but either ways, im not in good shape both inside and out.

I took panadol once in the office because i could no longer take it. The headache was killing me and i had just one more page to write.

My body seems to be weakening under conditions i have not yet determine.

i wonder if blogging about happy things will help me deal with shithole-situation.

the best thing that is gonna happen to me is that i'll prob be reviewing an open-top penthouse restaurant called SEVVA (pronounced 'savour') and each dish is apprx HKD200. ouch!

I've signed up for NARS beauty workshop, some makeover thing that cost me HKD300 and i hopefully pray its worth it! I dont wanna let some so-called make-up artist ruin my face now that the canvas is larger (ya my face grew in size too) and my pimples are not exactly disappearing.

I finished a book review on 'eat pray love' and i've read it like 10 times. But it still feels weird so i dont know how to go about correcting it, still trying. just imagine, 'What would a discerning male reader say about it?'

and to a certain person i would call soulmate, why did you log up your blog?

ylper

stop being so sensitive.

safe the bullshit.

read some self-help.

for x, x and x respectively.

STOP SHOPPING

I decided that i needed someone to stop me.(not kenneth of course.)
I gave the green light to auntie diana.
if i were to buy anymore things, scold me.
If i were to contemplate about whether or not to buy something, the answer would always be 'no'.
far too much , well, would i call destruction, has been done.

i dont even dare to put the image of mum or dad in my mind now. (sorry dad, i know its all your money im spending.)

It all started with a seemingly harmless trip to ZARA at IFC(Central).
heard my colleague mentioning the other day that it is different from other ZARAs around town.
I checked myself to the TRF section as usual, and the next thing i knew, i shipped myself to the fitting room.
as if it was all a natural process, i was at the cashier paying up.

Before i left, spotted a size 41 neon-green tipped pumps.
WOW i thought, ZARA PUMPS AT HK$159? HMM.
i slipped my feet into it, but decided against buying it.
The same day when i was taking a nap, i dreamt of the shoes.

Thus today i made another trip down to ZARA.
now the shoes are sitting at the feet of my bed.

well, i did not even dare to enter MANGO afterwards.
The thing is, i have been consistently shopping as if it was a pill to be taken everyday.
i buy any and every thing, almost.

im standing at:

5 new dresses.
2 skirts
2 pair of shoes (with much/great abstinence)
4 hairbands
3 other-than-black-colour stockings
7 tops
1 scarf
1 new eye-liner
1 eyeshawdow
2 vests
2 plastic frames
more than 5 pairs of earrings (lost count)
2 bangles
1 bag (lately i've lost interest in bags cos i've got a few that cater to all my needs.)

no, not everything is thrifted so i am feeling very broke now.
i have yet to total the damages.(excluding the amount of weight i've gain hahahahah)
oh ya! NINE WEST IS CHEAP HERE!!!!!

i guess my NARS blusher will have to wait, so does the Majorica Mascara and the Kate white eyeliner.

STOP SHOPPING!
im gonna head for the library next week, i swear.
step the afternoon reading vogue and anything Haruki Murakami.

...

im very broke cos im now spending 2 times the amount of money doing laundry as compared to the first 2 weeks.

Oh that lazy and rainy saturday i went to ZARA, i almost managed to finish reading eat, pray ,love by Liz Gilbert.
i dont thing i can ever lend that book out to anyone, cos its heavily loaded with my messy handwriting.
it is hardly a 'travel narrative', it seem pretty much like a self-help book.
a very well written self-help book, very interesting, not just saying the DUH stuffs.
but its definitely not for impatient or un-adventurous people.
started on a new book, Princess Masako, story of Japan's crown princess.
its awfully enriching in the sense that its filled (to the brim mind you!) with japanese culture thou its writer is australian.

discovered another new place in HK today!, found another vintage shop
this time, its hardcore all vintage accessories, in big big dirty plastic bags whereby you have to fish out the gems yourself.
taken care by an old lady who i managed to strike a deal with, in cantonese.AMAZING!

ohmy, enough talk!

will post pics soon! keep a look out!

some pics i posted the other day, believe libing has seen it.

home away from home

Life will never be the same again, ever.
Been in HK for 5/6 weeks now, life is now consistently paced.

I dine at my distant auntie's house almost every other day. She cooks the meanest soups, veggies and chicken cutlets. I dont have a choice but to take about 2 bowls of rice in each seating. Its a home away from home, somewhere i can hear people speak proper un-accented english. Not to mention, their home is like a villa compared to mine and most importantly, their toilet is BIG, and clean. someday i must seize the chance to try bathing there.

Their company is lovely, two (almost) old folks without children and a nice house. Since Auntie Diana, as i call her, has a jewellry shop in Central, i mostly hang around in the area, thrift shopping/H&M/SoHo, even went the market with her once. Life is so ordinary, not that anything is wrong, but almost country-like.

Now and then i drink abit, of cocktails yes and beer (still think its unbearable). But normally i end up with orange juice or milk.
Not Clubbing = No Point get high/drunk = No Drinks.
During events, the only thing i look forward is canapes, they look good and also fill up my stomach. Colleagues have pointed out that i my face is rounder now, not that im very bothered YET, since we are still in the early stages of summer. I sincerely wish summer did not have to come, even though i do hate bathing with my legs shivering. My face being rounder does show alot, mainly the fact that i am enjoying it here, well at least my stomach is. FAT=Happy eating.

I can no longer fit into some of the clothes i've bought here already hahaha, so i think you get the point. its kinda a cross between happy and sad. (since im not even slim to begin with! ARGH.)

After one month i have been trained to stick to CLEAN food, the rule is: Can be expensive, cannot be dirty (location included). Great places to eat are 'Dai Ga Lok' (Chain of food stores ) a couple of 'Cha Chan Tings' (tea house) and SPICY NOODLES. The shanghai food here is really thumbs up too. To say that my stomach is contented is simply, simply simply, an understatement. Oh ya, the PO LO BAO with a slice of cold butter. WOOTS.

Desserts are even better. Double Boiled milk pudding, steamed egg custard, Mango sago, papaya smoothie, almond paste, Dumplings (sandy wish you were here) among others. Seriously, i could choose to starve or just enjoy without a care. its just impossible to describe in words, im just anticipating my next trip to HK with my friends.

I tried lottery, but unfortunately, did not strike even a single digit (out of the 12 digits i bought.) So no hope to sponsor anyone over to eat, shop and play with me for now.

Dressing up (sounds DUH i know) will never be the same again. It feels good to finally wear something more than 2 layers just to look good. Stockings are daily essentials, haven bear my legs for zillions of years. Scarves and bling bling and more hairbands, everyday is a dress-up day. Dont have to care what people say (ya they normally WILL SAY SOMETHING) but.....

My only exercise is (still) shopping, I shop alot more now but spend a lesser amount to what i did in singapore. life never be the same cause i can bet you a 100 bucks (SG dollars) that no shop sell blouses at S$2 each or vests at S$6 each. Nowhere in singapore will you find me trying to haggle with a storekeeper that practically swears with every dollar you bring down, but it doesnt matter, only god knows what they're swearing anyway.

No streets have more Philippinas (female philippines people) then HK. They laze on the streets, shop, talk walk play majong etc. But well they are happy people.

Kenneth Cheong lost my camera case and bought a...can-never-be-called-equivalent casing for me. SIGHS, LIFE SUCKS SINCE MY CAMERA IS MY BABY. He hasnt said sorry, not that i remember, and i think he needs to buck up on being a person. but whatever the case, we are sitting far away from each other in the office (he is in the editorial room while im not), we speak less than 10 sentences to each other each day and i normally dine alone/with my auntie. Not complaining, since i am managing my life OK. Not perfect, but ok. I've lined up stuffs to do everyday, so its pretty much fulfilling.

work-wise, i've been called in by the editor (margie) a couple of times due to shabby work. been slammed about my grammar (sadly, haha.). But i still managed to write one 'feature section' and many bulletin sections. Feature section is along the lines of ' Where to get vintage goods in HK'. So i visited a vintage records store, vintage camera store, wine store, clothes (obviously), vintage furniture and vintage poster. Its the most amazing few days i have ever had. The line between fun and work is almost completely blurred. It wasnt exactly a breeze venturing on my own but POLICEMEN ARE DAMN HELPFUL IN HK (so anw, is mas selamet caught yet!!!). I got around lah, HK is somewhere anyone can live in, anyone.

Never took so many pictures at one go before, and even had my photos complemented. I could die of joy really! (cant believe someone added indirectly that the photos were bad.BITCH) It proves that im not that handicapped after all lah.

aside from shabby house (cant change anything about it) and vanishing flat mate (no objections here), life is still pretty much very fun. there are new things to see almost everywhere. New food too try, new places to shop, and new people to meet.

Now i truly understand how and why HK (tourism board) constantly sells themselves for 'eat and shop'.

friends, i still miss u guys like crazy. so if you have spare cash, just fly over!

cheers to the day.

i never thought i would ever blog like 3 times per night , nor say what i am about to say, but here it is:

this is a challenge from God, i will accept it and overcome it.

....

last week and the week before was calmly beautiful.
Kenneth and I spent it apart meeting only for dinners.

I kinda dragged him to the HK film festival, we caught something hilarious, grossly hilarious.
called 'Teeth' i had to admit it was one of the most gory stuff i;ve caught to date.
I enjoyed it but he was at the verge of a nervous break-down.poor kid.

Other than the film festival, i bought another vintage top and i took more photos.
basically the camera is my life and my life revolves ard the camera.

One of the photos i took for my article!
Classic breakfast at tiffiny's

The HK version of IS, pretty cool.
just that i dont have the right companion to go for the stuffs lor...

New dresss! too bad the weather  is turning warm.
sighs, can no longer do my shawl thingy!

a little bit like croc hunter lor, so JUNGLE, shall wear it out this weekend!
matching belt and bag and shoesss!

oh man i bought a new pair of shoes like FINALLY cause all my shoes are breaking apart.
its like HK$90! PINK BALLET FLATS.
someetimes i get too excited that i bold my stuffs.
kinda bimbo i know!

AHGHHHHH i wan a photoblog at Phiary!!!!

Comme des Garcons

i just realised...

Comme des Garcons for H&M!!!!! WTH!
WHY AM I NOT PAID US$3,000!!!!!!

epitome of a perfect worker, or so you think.

I know i haven blogged in awhile, i simply apologise, since this going to be heavy stuff. Its gonna end up being a whiny, rant-y and obviously sarcastic post.

I guess there are people in the world who queue up to get fucked in the face, i dont literally mean fuck like sex, but fuck like 'hey-i-am-going-to-say/do-something-stupid-today -because-i-feel-like-it-and-i-think-i-am-obviously-right-about-the-stupid-thing-that-i-am-about-to-stupidly-say" kinda fuck, if you get what i mean.

get a grip of yourself man, and stop acting like a _______________.

obviously i've got brains big enough to keep me alive.

And as much as i tried not to use 'fuck', well, some things in life are just like a straight line, you cant help it that it is straight. so, i cant help it that some people are just, well, they simply need to be saved.

people people, dont assume dont assume.
it might not,it might be directed at something. But im gonna leave it ambiguously undefined.

going off to write my ...would i call it a travel log?

at this point of time, i believe i need a GIRLFRIEND more than a boyfriend.

hello New Mantra.

Living by this new mantra (other then my signature 'Just whack!')

“I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”
Coco Chanel

So true hor!

...

Work starts again tomorrow, to think that i only worked 4 days and i got another 4 days worth of easter holidays.

My internet has been screwing up quite abit, so much that i can no longer give visuals to my friends back in spore.
I have began to countdown to my mum's phone calls, i anticipate them actually! Last night mummy and I chatted till 1am in the morning. Well, im rather ashamed to say this, but oh well, it feels good to be missed, because it seems that lately, i've been doing a fair bit of missing.

check this out!

introducing my new companion, cos i got too bored.

Saturday, March 22, 2008

hello friends.

Life is still great.

Met up with Terence for lunch.
it was really fresh, well, how do i put it, i have been seeing almost no one else but kenneth for the last 2 weeks.
almost like a 24/7 thing.(not to mention we LIve together)

So yea, it was good.
The food he intro-ed were nice and cheap too, talk abt living like a local!
and not to mention the best steamed, hot (milk) desset i had in HK so far!
so delicious i dont even know how to go about describing it.
well at 20 bucks per bowl, it had also better do my skin some good.
im determined to not touch fried stuffs next week.

still extremely fascinated by HK guys, super gorgeous eye candies who are almost everywhere.
they are awfully tall too.
well, pure bliss, thou i wished i had people to share that bliss with.
There are types that keat will like, types that Bing will drool over, Xinyu's specs and geeky but fashionable kind who wears Agnes B from head-to-toe, and ... i think Sandy should stick to HN! haha But i wished she could come here and laugh at my choice of men.

...

Topics are endless, but then again, comfort is also key to endless topics.
I dont know if i hurt my friends when i tell them 'wish u were here'.
but the truth is, i wished they were here.
just movign my clothes, make-up, accessories, bags here aint enough.
i wished i could move my lifestyle here.
i wished i could have a shopping buddy who goes: " don't buy this u look fat in it! ".
I wish Li Bing was here to starbucks with me, to make me laugh and the most random things, to bitch and people watch and bitch even more. To eat, to be amazed by the amount of japanese snacks they have, to truly enjoy life.

Sandy, to inspire me, to spur me on, to constantly bug me just as i bug her. as simple as that, to be around each other during those bus rides, to talk about make-up and skin products, to complain about my mac...

Keaty, to be able to sms her and have a fight, to get mad at each other, flare up for abit and then realise that we cant do without each other simply because she is Keat and im Tong, and the fact that we might possibly run a comic shop together next time call 'Keat Tong'.

Xinyu, to have her fuss over me and contact me scolding me WHY I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTING HER. To mood swing and get well. To be beside her when she walks out of her moodswing and give that idiotic innocent huge smiley face.To have her tell me about her latest bargains and to have me go 'wow... how did u get that so cheap!'.

alas,

Terence is right, have to abandon that tourist thing, think like a local, not to mention, work like an intern.

Biz Tra day 1+ flaky skin.

i fell in love with a jacket, it was a cross between a biker jacket and a tulip sleeve top.
So beautiful, Dark black PVC, essentially shouts 'chic', but cost a bomb.
Ok, i woulden call it a bomb, just abt HK$350 after bargaining. (in case u dont know, S$70)
It was a little big, so...Mum was totally against the idea.
after like 4 days im still thinking about it.Sighs, talk abt love at first sight.

That aside, 1st day was peaceful.
Kenneth and I stayed till 7pm to complete the proof-reading, since they were rushing the magazine for print.
It was an exhilarating experience, reading a magazine before its published, playing a minor role in such a huge production.
I felt obliged to stay till 10pm to see it sent to print, thou i have a feeling it might b delayed till tomorrow.
I left the office feeling awfully tired, super strained eyes and hurting toes.

Naturally, I over dressed.
In my opinion it was just dressing corporate smart, but then, everyone wore jeans, so naturally what i wore was counted as 'over-dressing'.
Brother had a good laugh when i told him i over-dressed, like it was predictable.(HELLO! SO NOT OK.)
So its jeans tmr ok.

Used a fair bit of brain cells, not too much, and alot of eye power.
I wonder what we'll be doing tmr, how safe should i dress (OMG, sounds like a bimbo question, shit.)
The people were OK, not like SUPERNICE as Kenneth yap seems to be telling me.
It was abit awkward i have to admit, so in a very neutral way, i shall say that 'thank god for kenneth, Cheong'.
adding to the fact, i feel that not knowing canto gives people a chance to be prejudiced towards you.
Its true in many aspects, if u know canto, u have an easier time, easier to get around, people love u.
if u speak chinese, they think ur from mainland china (WATCH OUT, CHINA IS A GROWING MARKET!)
and english, well, even the macdonalds stuff dont understand my english, i suppose its just me.

I learnt MANY THINGS today, so much about china, and many asia countries.
hey i can tell u which countries have the best (Hotel) packages these few months.
Its amazing, the number of things u learn just from proof reading something u did not write.

Really tired, im on a 'intense hydro mask' routine for the next 3 days (been doing it for 2 days), cos my skin is dried up like a baked potato skin.
My nose is flaking and I still insist of putting on foundation cos somehow when i stepped onto HK soil, i was hit by a viral, vanity syndrome - oh just great.
Im doing alot of SOS on my face, nose especially u cant imagine how flaky my whole face looks with HYDRO mask and aloe vera and SPF15 moisturising lotion.

vanity aside, I HATE AMERICAN SPELLING OK.
Like if those people stop placing their 'z' and replaced it with 's' it saves EVERYONE alot of time and effort.
oh well, i guess thats not really up to me, so i just better do my job properly as a lowly paid intern at panacea asia who is learning a hell lot, this I am very serious and i know i keep repeating myself.

And hello Li Bing i need to send u a special msg becos my mum gave me a doc martens lookalike and i am totally stunned and i duno what to do with it and i hope u can fit into it. Its almost like hiking shoes. I'll wear it one day and tell u if its comfy and if it is well u can probably have it.(:

AND DEAR FRIENDS, let me know if Mas Selamat is caught.

and JUNO is wonderful. The songs are so beautiful, think country lovers playing guitars.

ALL SET FOR BIZ TRAVELLER DAY 2.

Greetings frm Canto land.

Im safely in Hong Kong, and i desperately want to know if the JI guy has been caught!
Rest assure if i see him in Hong Kong I WILL DEFINITELY CALL BACK SINGAPORE AND ASSIST THEM IN ANYWAY TO CATCH THAAT BASTARD.

So guys, main thing is, if he is caught, please let me know!!!!!

i have no internet and im leeching on someone's wireless everyday!
But since i've been cultivated by spore as a really good citizen who is bothered about piracy and IP laws, i will not break laws and im will not even hack into that person's system to see what he or she has. Not even if he/she has naked pictures of edison chen, not even if they are scandalous enough to make a nerdy guy horny.

i've started posting pics on face book, so go check it out, its under albums.

the fact that i cant speak canto is making my life hard. Hong Kong pple can speak english well, but i dont understand why they DONT WANT TO SPEAK IT. oh ya, im having a bloody hard time.

I shall not say much except for the fact that i do really miss my close friends and family.

" Tong: For all the crazy crazy attitude and cool things you do and say when we go out, you're really REALLY gonna be missed by us for the next 5 months and I just know you're gonna do great cause you're just so determined. Just remember to smile like you always do and don't get beaten when the going gets tough okay! SWEET WENDY!

24hours.

To be exact,in less than 24 hours.
This time tmr, i will be in my new home, where i will be for the next 5 months, hopefully.
If im lucky, i might have even sneaked a quick H&M visit in between.

It has been drizzling non-stop, feels like an advance farewell.
I've just finished packing, I have to admit it has taken me forever.
Finding out that i have a half a cupboard of unwanted clothes also came as a surprise. The moment i sat on top of my luggage, struggling to close it, was the moment i realise the time has come.

These few days, I have just been busy meeting friend after friend, eating huge portions of food at cafes/restaurants after restaurants. Spending cash as if i will be getting paid 3000USD per month (damn i really wish.)

There is no fear, no anxiety, no excitement running through my veins at all.
Few months back when i first applied for this post, I thought (or rather wished) that when the moment of departure arrives, i will feel a tinge of excitement, no, maybe a truckload of excitement, but NAH, the only 'tinge' of thing I feel is saddness. I guess leaving your loved ones aint as easy as it looks. You can board a plane, leave the country. But to let your heart feel at ease with leaving them, well, its a different matter altogether.

Hong Kong, yea, i can console myself that there will be many pairs of shoes there waiting for me to buy, but how can that make up for all the time that i will not be seeing my friends and family?

The whoel prospect of leaving comfort zone is shiok, no doubt, but facing the faces of my friends at departure will be tough. Because i might always 'proclaim' that i love being alone, no human being can survive without another.

When i heard that I would be taking a 6.30 am flight (meaning i gotta reach at 4.30 friggin am!), i felt quite at ease. It wasnt a timeslot that people would want to be out of their beds and freezing their ass off, not even when Changi is ranked the No.4airport in the world.

Unexpectedly, my closest buddies will all be there. the full troupe, full battalion, full -whatever-you-call-it. Camping in changi airport is not exactly the most exciting thing to do in the middle of the night, but its what those people are going to do. My heart screams out THANK YOU to them, so loud that its deafening. And once again, i come face to face with something i have acknowledged years ago, the fact that i am a bloody lucky person, i am bloody lucky with making friends. They baked goodies for me, give me tea to calm my senses, slam me so hard that i realise things, give me company so good that i would rather not sleep and stay up and talk an entire night (even nights),support my decisions, give me the warmth i need as and when i need, bitch like tabloid magazine writers, pig out till food can literaly flow out from my nose, laugh and get high, and all the things they do to make my heart feel so full. they define friendship for me.

For all the good times, Xinyu, keat, Li Bing, sandy, Cha, wendy, Hui, Le, ila, ying, yuhan, tze, jieying, peirong etc.

laptop's down, so no pictures for those nostalgic moments.

Its off to bathe, then dinner then airport.
Hong Kong, please please please welcome me with open arms.

Goodbye Singapore!

(P.S email me! Laingtlau@hotmail.com, but i'll probably email those people as soon as i get internet access! Love ya people!)

ay least i will have someone to watch over me, in a weird way.

lets keep the energy up.

PS: I love books.

there's always a tinge of sadness when i finish a novel.
sometimes, its simply because of the nature of love being sacrificial, sometimes it is a post syndrome.
the only way to go about clearing off that sadness is to indulge in another book.

often enough, i get too caught up,maybe too over caught up in the relationships in the novels. It just seems so simple to step into someone else's shoes and feel their pain. I cant say the same for joy and happiness thou.

Another Nicholas sparks' novel.'Dear John'.
while the whole world is busy reading Cecelia Ahern, i figured i should go join Nicholas's fan club. He is, after all, more of a senior than Ms Ahern.

The joy of knowing there are like3 more books to finish reading, temporarily throws my mind away from the business traveller magazines i have to familiarize myself with. I can never run away from it thou, i believe i'll be reading them even on the plane, i mean, how much can United Airline offer in terms of in-flight entertainment. Shall wait and see.

Just got back from Libing's house, had a great breakfast, lingered in a great house had a not so great sleep, but that's the least of my concerns.

Li bing, in case ur reading this, I noticed something that really touches my heart.
Every time i stay over at ur house, i wake up to your breakfast table filled with well-prepared food.
Not only so, your water bottle.
A filled up to the brim water bottle.
From the red plastic one to your current yellow one, every morning, always filled.
I think ur really very lucky.(:

...

If anyone is reading this, let me do a shout-out:

TONG is leaving Singapore on the 11th March 2008, its a 6am flight!
I have to be at the airport at 4am!
and i will really miss Singapore, im trying not to get to that part.

I really really wanna find a ku-huo-zai (HK Mobster/Gangster/Lao Da) and settle down in HK.
Live of life of thrill, wondering which moment will be the last with my Ku-huo-zai.
NAH, JUST JOKING!
OK, i day dream too much, obviously watch too many HK flicks.

countdown:

11 days.

fly away.

" Yea, im going to L.A to work for 3 months. "
" WOW, 3 MONTHS!? Thats' a long time!"

in my heart, i wondered why she would want to do it. Was there a reason? 3 months was an awfully long time alone. Wait, im forgetting that i once wanted to go to Hong Kong for 5 months, despite knowing that i would be alone. Well, that was until kenneth came along. I will be going to HK anyway, for 5 months, even longer a duration than her.

" Why did you suddenly wanted to go?", i asked.
" SpeedWings, saw a poster in school, thought that im young and needed an adventure."

the longing for an adventure. I thought she maybe also wanted something or someone else. Adventure? that hardly seem apt for a young girl turning 20. But she was the mountaineering kind, i could see from her tan. A trip to L.A, going to national parks and disney land seems compatible with her. Ah, i think we are becoming global students, going all over the world. And i guess im the only one who desire that something extra.

flee from Zouk flea

ARZZZZZZZZZ ZOUK FLEA IS VERY SCARY.

and did i mention, overly over-rated.
gangs of people unworthy to mention.
oh god, people coming in extremely 'this-cost-less-than-10-bucks-and-it-looks-that-way' kind graphic tees with slippers.
if you look as bad on the top side, at least pay attention to you footwear lah!
issues issues issues.

and i saw like 20 gazillion people turning up with that 'im a geek' glasses.
its over people! OVER (as can be seen by the fact that those geek glasses are turning up in some of the stores in the flea.)
the trend is saying sayonara! good bye! adios! Ciao!

Li Bing and i wished that we brought in pa rangs and guns to clear the crowd.
The whole atmosphere was so bad that i walked like 4 rounds and i decided to call it a day.
i spent like $1.50 on a cute fabric badge! and THAT WAS IT!

at least she (LB) managed to get a top, badges(like 9?) and poker cards big enough for my-granny-with-bad-i-sight to play.
not bad considering the conditions, hardly fit for a human to shop.
EWWWEW. its my last zouk flea for the next 6 months. (anyway, im flying off SOON.)

..

my camera is going on a strike, ah, maybe its my iphotos.
cant upload pics for nuts man.

..

im ashamed to say that i finally bought a white basic, a long white basic, after million of year without one.
CottonOn has become my essential basics paradise.
cheap cheap cheap basics, good fitting basics! (goodbye pull and bear!)

calling for helpless.

so a 4 man(or rather women)project became me, myself and i doing it.
with the help of sandy.

so if we were gonna screw up, like i think we would, its probably my fault, yet not really my fault. i've had enough of this kind of retarded leeching going on since year 1.

I SWEAR I HAVE NEVER FELT SO FUCKING HELPLESS IN MY WHOLE , ALMOST TWO YEARS, IN MCM.
my brother walked in and i just cried.
like i duno what the fuck is going on AT ALL, and the numbers, well, none of them made sense to me despite me trying, for the past two days to understand what they mean.Significance? fuck. ANOVA? fuck. Frequency? fuck. Mean? fuck.

i read the whole chapter on text, and all the notes.
and i just felt like the stupiest dumbfuck on earth.

so after many hours of constant struggling, i decided to give up and do it my own way according to my own understanding. i mean, what could be worst right, i already did the ALL the other questions.Die, then ALL die together.

i cannot possibly emphasis, reiterate of even nag about the importance of EFFICIENT group mates.

for 1 hour, i felt like i was a timebomb (and i really wanted to be one!) so i can go to school tmr and blast at everyone.

as if life could not get worst, my charger is officially dying. like spoilt.
mental note: call up diversitec tmr.

and yes, if by hook or by crook i end up a media researcher, i swear it is only because my future husband is in it too.

monday morning.

i wish i was Delilah.

...

i dreamt of ziggy soh.
trust me, its not him that is scary, its the whole advert saga.
i can feel that he is really helping us, subtle-ly.
and i really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
i will not continue advert in year 3 because advert is advert.
but if i ever will, i think it will be because of ziggy soh.

right now.
feels like im holding on to this really thin thread and its gonna break any moment.
its just an analogy of my current state of mind.
and i believe many fellow mates feel exactly the same.(like D-U-H!)

but honestly, to give up at this point of time,
i will just be a huge ass loser who will never be able to look into the light again.

...

im starting to pray very hard (and work very hard too) that i will get to go overseas to continue to study.
i am just not prepared to step out in the workforce yet, mentally.
i want to be so much better prepared.

i dont think NTU/BUS/SMU will do any good to me, unless im going for business courses.
getting in is another problem.
Going to the US will be good i think.
polishing up my english will do me good.
refining my writing skills will be hard, but challenging enough for me to want to do it.

lets see how it goes.

...

speaking of graduating.
i miss these two women who are graduating really soon.
like i miss them, i dont even know how to go about saying it.
every time i think of them, there is this warm fuzzy feeling that runs through me.
talk about affinity.

oh my lovely ladies.sighs.

...

its 9.39am on a monday morning.
im in school, trying to figure out what MRM is really about.
and i drowned in blogger instead.

THIS IS SCARY.

Believing that awfully handsome vampires do actually exist, thanks to Stephenie Meyer.
Hooked on the whole Twilight saga, its hard to move on.

The realness of it all.

been thinking about this week alot, like random happenings.

Top on my list is how i went about introducing my teammates wrongly, i swear their minds were going 'what kind of fucking AD are you!!!???!!'.
ya, i really wanted to punch myself silly.

i think on two particluar days, well,
perhaps i did act abit weird.
and i hate to admit it, abit curel.

Hui recently mentioned that i had taken a liking to calling everyone 'weird'.
well, its true.
Cause my brother said the exact same thing a week ago.

i know this sounds all too weird, but i actually went to watch my brother play in a match.
well, i promised him i would do so a year ago.HAHA.
so much so for being efficient.

Love Journal

random journal i found online.

...

So i was just writing this article about making a 'Love Journal'.
well, laugh all you can, but its for my school magazine.
the randomest topic i have ever written about in my whole entire life.

but im truly very inspired by my own piece.
so inspired that i think i will embark on a journey to do another journal.
i know i haven been saying this for ages, but i still had to mention it, if i had a boyfriend, yea.
making a journal together will be fun.
in my mind now, i can already picture someone who will embark on this project with me.
HAHA!
gotta go hound someone for pictures we took together.

had a call from the editor yesterday, all the way from HK.
if i had known it was something like a phone interview, i would had better prepared myself.
i sounded like a bloody fool while on the phone.
shame on tong!

can't cry over spilled milk.OOPS.

Cute love journal i found online:

one thing.

went for a steamboat dinner awhile ago.
spending money on food is always the best solution after a long day of shopping.

i miss going for steak with my mum,
come to think of it.
before i can even spend time with her, im flying off to hong kong.
lol, life and its many twists and turns.

well, back to steamboating.
we went to 'tian tian' the so-called famous one.
well, the soup was awfully good, they CLAIMED it was msg-less..
but i woke up at 3am in the morning lusting for water.
so, well, you get the point.

it was like steamboat buffet, so naturally, i gorged myself silly.
but i think chong li bing gorged herself sillier than me!
HAHA, that girl has stamina man, i swear!

and we both left tian tian feeling very contented.

life is still good.
when food, friendship and relationships come together.

...

ah, yes yes i forgot to add.
open house turned out good.
im so proud of the year 1s.
and every one who did their best to help while we were running about like crazy people.
i guess we (fmsa) still pass for managing skills.

...

eyeliner.

Ah, i finally did something exciting.
i FINALLY got the eye liner that i have been looking for the last 2 months.
K-Palette!
great slim liquid eyeliner brush!

like WOW WOW.
i've checked, its made in JAPAN!
no more china product scare.

so anyway i really need to trim my eyebrow.
but that aside, wow, the brush was really fun.
ah, with some training, i think i'll be able to do the prada eyeliner thing soon.LOLS.

ok, i could even like draw my inner lids without much problem!
whoosh.

oh well, this post shows how i've really gone nuts.
too much work too little fun.

240.

Fear.
the world that rips my guts out.
3 days in a role, i swear u had better stop appearing in front of me suddenly.
im freaked out.
i wished i had a body guard.
im on my toes all the time.
i swear its not just me thinking too much.

...

did i mention,
i love FMSA.

239.

leave me alone.
when you do that to me,
it's almost as if i should anticipate a further contact point.
you belong in the heart of another.

238

im on the verge of venturing out alone to have things done my way.
but now im back to Square one.

its these little things that kill me, and yet heighten my insecurities towards you.

237 - for company.

i never expected this to ever happen.
Kenneth and i are going to HK together!

there is this over-flowing pool of emotions bursting within me.
a part of me wants to jump in joy,
yes indeed my mum will not be there but the forces above gave me kenneth for company.
as much as i am a loner, yes a super loner, having company in a strange land is bliss, for now.

i cant explain how much i want to jump up and scream,
go about telling the world ' WE ARE GOIN TO CONQUER HONG KONG'.
well, not exactly conquer but we in this together.

starting life anew somewhere with company,
i cant say it was what i originally wanted, i wanted time alone, away from everyone i knew,
away from my home, away from everyone i ever felt a single emotion for, away from everything that i was forced to take a responsibility for, and just see my mum's face every now and then.

that was what i wanted.
but i guess with kenneth, its for the best.

i cant wait to start writing, start getting slammed (like how sng does it)
how does it feel?
cant wait to end advertising.

but i will miss keat ying very much.
Xin yu will need me.
brother will want to drink the milo i make.
but dad, i dont want to miss my dad.

for now, whirlwind thoughts of HK tempt me.

236 - a moment to remember

since when did i start leaving my ipod with empty battery so i have an opportunity to sleep peacefully on the bus.
that aside, here goes.

My HK/China/Macau trip at a glance.

those were the times.

it's a wrap.

new year resolutions are utterly useless in my case.
i make new years resolutions and i break them, all the time.
thus i end up unearthing new year resolutions from years ago for a good laugh.

i just want to give thanks to 2007, however good/rotten it might be.

PLEASE let good luck roll in like bundles of fresh air.

235

lucky number 235.

jet lag lasted for 3 days, god knows why.

I'm leaving for Hong Kong in roughly 3 months.
and after that its 5 months of learning, getting slammed and more learning.

its what i wished and prayed for day and night.
but its just too surreal at this moment.

shenzhen+zhuhai+macau+Hong Kong with the LAU family was cool.

234 - celebrations.

random things i have been doing.

with my new-found love of course.
HELLO IXUS 75, your huge 3.0 inch screen amazes me.

1stly, its the xmas potluck we planned from 2 million years ago.
alcohol was almost non-existence.
but celebration was hanging in the air, think 2 weeks holidays.

and i could not remember the last time i ate so much.

BING's time to shine.

good pasta + weird confessions.

The New Bing look.

Awwww. Classic face.

Post dinner activity!

and we tried in the best that we could, CHA and I , to celebrate chong bing bing's birthday. (early one).

and li bing got abit drunk. (OR SO IT SEEMS)

and that sums up the adventure of the happy trio.

...

Just before i fly off into neverland for xmas.

Merry Xmas THE world, spread the peace, joy and love.
(I cant wait for boxing day sale!)

HONG KONG BABY, Hongkie-licious.

233

Its Friday the 14th, the promised results has not reached me.

No one bothered to say anything to ease the uncertainties.

is dropping an email all that hard?

and then anxiety turns into fear and turns lastly to just blurrr.
so just what lies ahead in the not-too-distant future?

keep your eyes peeled and your ears opened.

232 - Shoes

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW.

so futuristic it blows my mind.
Whoosh.

i LIKE.

lets go forward in time, to reassure myself that i turn out fine.
